Abstract

One of the important indicators of agricultural development is the level of organization. Organization is one of the prominent tools in solving many problems in agricultural production. There are many elements in agricultural organization in Turkey. Some of these elements have part in meeting the capital needs of enterprises, some in supply of inputs, and some in marketing of products. The number of members in chambers of agriculture throughout the country is 5.2 million, this value is 3.6 million in agricultural cooperatives, 345.000 in producer associations, and 570.000 in breeder associations. In this study; organization levels in agricultural enterprises were examined by using the data obtained from the survey studies from 141 in dairy cattle, 136 in cotton production, 83 in canola production and 74 in paddy production enterprises. According to the research results, membership level was found highest in chambers of agriculture. This rate was 100% in paddy and cotton production, it was 89% in canola and 82% in dairy cattle. Furthermore, between the enterprises which were members of the breeding cattle breeders' association and non-members, there was 7% of statistical difference in terms of average milk yield values per dairy cow, and 1% difference in terms of dairy cow presence. In terms of paddy production, there was 1% of statistical difference in paddy production area size average between the members of the agricultural credit cooperative and non-members. In the canola enterprises, there was 5% of statistical difference in the yield value per unit area between the members of agricultural credit cooperatives and non-members. The research results indicates that producers are spesifically having problems in marketing of the products. Thus, agricultural organizations should take an active role in the marketing of the products, besides meeting capital and input needs of agricultural enterprises.
