THE EFFECT OF HUMIC ACID ON PLANT DEVELOPMENT IN LETTUCE PRODUCED DIFFERENT DOSES OF SALT

Abstract

Nowadays, a large part of agriculture land is faced with salinity problems. Yield and quality decreases if agricultural production make in such areas. However, fertilizers can reduce this damage. In recent years, many organic fertilizers such as humic acid are preferred to chemical fertilizers. Effective plant nutrition increases the resistance of the plant against biotic and abiotic damages. For this reason, it was aimed to determine how much salinity damage can be reduced salinity damage by applying humic acid in the lettuce that is consumed in 12 months of the year. Lettuce seeds were planted 2-liters pots containing 2: 1 peat + perlite mixture and 2 seeds planted in each pots. The study was designed to be 4 repetitions and 5 pots each repeat, according to randomized experimental design. After seeds were planted, lettuce plants were irrigated with Hoagland nutrient solution. Before seed planting, 1000 mg HA kg-1 humic acid was applied to the pots except the control groups. When the lettuce seedlings had 4-leaves, 50, 100 and 150 mmol salt applications were applied to the pots. The all plants were irrigated with Hoagland nutrient solution until the end of the experiment. The experiment was completed 15 days after the salt applications were made. As a result of the analyzes and measurements, it was observed that the salt stress damage was reduced in pots treated humic acid.
