Abstract

In this study, the improvements in the Turkish earthquake regulations, the differences between the codes, the development of the earthquake regulations and the effect of the infill walls on the structural behavior of the building type structures are discussed. In this context, the current TBDY2018 (Turkey Building Earthquake Code 2018) specification, which is still in force, offers a scope that is different from previous regulations and includes extensive innovations. As a result of this new scope and changes, significant contributions have come in view in the creation of earthquake resistant building design awareness in Turkey. It is revealed that the development of the structural parameters in the regulations and the way of construction and the behavior of the building greatly influenced. The improvements in Regulations show that with the development of structural parameters and the way of construction greatly influences the behavior of the building. In the framework of Turkish building earthquake codes, the way in which the effect of infill walls is handled in building type structures and the effect of infill walls on building rigidity and structural behavior are investigated. In this context, it is noted that modeling the infill walls with the methods prescribed in the regulations provides a positive rise in structural behaviors such as the reduction of natural periods, displacements and some irregularity causes of building-type structures
