Abstract

Seed micro and macro morphological characteristics have been shown to be taxonomically reliable in many different plant groups and are frequently used by researchers. Although the seed micro and macro morphological characteristics, which are frequently used in the taxonomic grouping of members of the genus Hypericum, which is one of the large plant groups with taxonomic problems, have been determined for most of the group members, there are still group members that have not been the subject of such studies. With this study, the micro and macro morphological characteristics of two endemic Hypericum species were determined and the taxonomic usability of these features was tested. With the studies carried out, it was determined that the seeds of the H. cardiophyllum species were 2.05 ± 0.03 mm long, light brown, with short papillae, while the seeds of the H. spectabile species were 1.85 ± 0.05 mm long, dark brown and had long papillae, and the taxonomic usability of these characters was demonstrated.
