Abstract

Especially after 2006, the establishment of many new universities in the country has also increased the number of students who have settled in the university. In particular, the number of students in business, economics and accounting departments, where the number of students of old universities is very high, has already increased even higher in newly established universities and the number of graduated students has increased accordingly. It is important to note which schools and departments managers have graduated from, such as general manager, CEO or assistant general managers, who are currently hired because the trainings given by the departments of the İİBF, which is the main aim to train business managers, are thought to be very important. For this purpose, we have tried to determine which schools and department graduates of these employees are working by examining the CVs of managers working as general manager, CEO or assistant general manager in public companies, company websites, activity reports or company reports. In this way, it has been tried to find out which schools and departments preferred by publicly traded companies in selecting managers. As a result of the study, it has emerged that people graduated from well-established universities such as ODTÜ, Istanbul University, Boğaziçi University and İTÜare employed as managers in public companies. When we look at the departments, 463 of the total 928 managers are İİBF graduates and 341 of them are engineering graduates. Among the engineering faculties, the most frequently employed departments are mechanical engineering, industrial engineering and civil engineering. As a result; Despite the fact that the administrators who graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences are too many, the managers who graduated from the engineering faculties will also be underestimated. Even if managers receive business training, they may be able to graduate in Business Administration after undergraduate training or graduating from MBA programs abroad, make a great contribution to their administrative duties.
