Abstract

In industrial buildings, production is made in different sectors, and many of them generate high levels of noise. It is known that, noise creates physiological and psychological effects on employees. Also high level noise causes, hearing loss, slowing of mental activities and work accidents. Production activity in industrial facilities is the most common source of noise. Employees' social activities and building technical support staff also generate various disturbing noises. In this study, regarding the noise in industrial facilities in Turkey and it examined the current regulations in the world. In the light of the information obtained, performance criteria have been established to provide acoustic comfort in industrial facilities. In an example of a press shop, the indoor noise criterion was evaluated through on-site measurement and preparation of an indoor noise map. In the conclusion, it has been determined that the limit values are exceeded in a significant part of the production volume. In the study; the use of vibration-damping materials and partial press guards have been proposed to control noise at the source in areas at risk. Considering the significant effects of noise on employees, it is thought that updating the noise exposure limit values given in the legislation as lower values will have a positive effect on the health and safety of the employees.
