Abstract

In this study, hybrid composites were performed by combining carbon, e-glass and aramid reinforced epoxy matrix composites between each other at macro level. Composite plates were produced with four laminations and than bonded to each other with Loctite 9461 A&BHysol two component adhesive and hybrid composites were obtained. Strength values and elasticity modules of these hybrid composites were determined by performing uniaxial tensile tests with Instron servo-hydraulic test device and presented in graphs. When the tensile strength is compared, the strength of e-glass/epoxy-aramid/epoxy hybrid has been determined to be the lowest and its value is approximately 350 MPa. E-glass/epoxy-carbon/epoxy hybrids are approximately 3% more than these. Carbon/epoxy-aramid/epoxy composites showed the highest strength. These composites are approximately 29% more durable than e-glass/epoxy-aramid/epoxy.
