Abstract

A case report is usually a detailed account of a diagnostic or treatment problem experienced by one or more patients. Case reports often serve as initial evidence for new interventions or serve as an alarm that a problem exists with an already established treatment. While the term "case record" is widely used in various aspects, the term "case report" is used only in modern medical journals. Case report is a specific form of clinical evidence in identifying rare or unusual diseases; in evaluating the effectiveness, safety and cost of treatments; and have important roles in improving medical education, patient care, and medical research. Improvements in patient outcomes can be achieved as a result of important studies, research and advances in clinical practice carried out as a result of the valuable information and new ideas presented in case reports, and these reports are now published by many journals. The publication of case reports has become a standard of medical literature.
