INVESTIGATION OF MINE ACCIDENTS IN THE WORLD AND IN TURKEY IN TERMS OF OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Abstract

This study analyzes occupational accidents and occupational health and safety (OHS) practices in the mining sector around the world, specifically presenting a case study of mining accidents in Turkey. Mining is known as a high-risk industry and this study investigates the causes and consequences of mining accidents and the measures that can be taken to prevent these accidents. OHS methods and legal regulations in the mining sector around the world were compared and international standards and best practices were examined. In the case of Turkey, a historical perspective of mining accidents is presented and OSH policies and practices in Turkey's mining industry are evaluated.

This study provides analysis of mining accidents worldwide from an OSH perspective, providing important perspectives for developing strategies for improvements in the sector and safer mining operations. This comprehensive review of occupational health and safety in the mining industry makes a significant contribution to preventing further accidents and protecting the health of employees.
