Abstract

This research was carried out to determine fish biodiversity in Bayındır Stream, which is one of the branches of Kirmir Stream, and some biological characteristics and diversity indexes of the species. The study was conducted between April-November 2017. Electroshooker device and ladles were used in the hunting of the specimens. Fishes were brought to the laboratory in 4% formaldehyde, they were diagnosed, and their metric and meristic properties were determined. In Bayındır Stream, 6 species belonging to three familias were identified and they are: Cyprinidae familia (4) Alburnoides fasciatus, Alburnus escherichii, Capoeta tinca and Squalius pursakensis; Nemacheilidae familia (1) Oxynoemacheilus angorae and Cobitidae familia (1) Cobitis simplicispina. Among the species, the highest population density was determined as the S. pursakensis (31%) and the lowest is C. simplicispina (2%). From the diversity indices, it is determined that Shannon-Wiener diversity index is 1,533; The Simpson diversity index is 4.182, the Margalef species richness index is 2.301 and Pielou's regularity index is 0.856. The fact that fish populations in Bayındır Stream show a homogeneous distribution is detected. Biodiversity of Bayındır Stream is high according to the Simpson diversity index and low for the Shannon-Wiener diversity index. Bayındır Stream has been considered as an important area in terms of distribution, feeding and breeding activities of fish species, and monitoring studies will be important and useful in terms of preserving ichthyofauna diversity.
