Abstract

Biotechnology can be defined as the use of biological processes to solve problems and produce useful products. Agricultural biotechnology is the use of biotechnology techniques to develop new methods or techniques using genetic engineering, molecular markers, molecular diagnostics, vaccines and tissue culture to modify plants or living organisms. This technology is just one of many factors that affect the health and welfare of farmers and citizens of every country in the developing world. As biotechnology continues to evolve in the modern agricultural field, factual and open public discourse is crucial to identify the role that society should play. Depending on the developing technology, agricultural biotechnology actually involves genetic interventions, pestresistant plants with higher protein or vitamin content, and medicines that are developed and grown as herbal products that do not require the use of chemical drugs. In discussing the impact of the use of new technology on the economy and society, or in specifying the limits of the work that one can do, everyone can see himself as sufficient to express his opinion. However, it is necessary to have a certain knowledge of the subject in order to predict what results will be obtained when a gene and genetic information are transferred to a plant. In this study, we provide a comprehensive insight into the current developments in the use of modern biotechnology in agriculture. It is important to note that biotechnology involves the use of scientific and engineering principles in the processing of biological agents or materials to provide goods and services. These; genomics, breeding studies, mutagenesis, molecular markers, transgenics, chromosome number change, resistant plant growing, nutrient-enhanced crop, development of ornamental plants, biofuels and micro-reproduction.
