Although potatoes can be grown in different climates and soil conditions, they yield better results in optimum climatic conditions and in soils with good organic structure. Therefore, the effect of different ecologies (Saray district of Van, Bismil and Ergani districts of Diyarbakır) on tuber width, length and weight, yield per plant and tuber yield per hectare in potatoes was investigated. Jelly potato plants were designed according to a randomized block design with 4 replications and 20 plants in each replication. At the end of the study, tuber width, length and weight, yield per plant and tuber yield per hectare were measured. Measurements revealed that the longest tuber length was recorded in Saray district of Van, while the shortest tuber length was measured in Bismil district of Diyarbakır. The highest tuber width was observed in Bismil, while the lowest was in Ergani. Regarding tuber characteristics, the highest values were determined in Bismil district, while the lowest tuber weight was found in Van. Yield per plant was highest in Bismil district, while the lowest yield was obtained in Saray region. Yield per decare was highest in Bismil region, while the lowest yield per decare was in Saray region. The study revealed that the warmer climate and better soil structure of the Ergani and Bismil regions compared to the Saray region increased their impact on yield and tuber size. Therefore, it was concluded that temperature has a positive effect on yield and quality in potato cultivation.
